Dawn Calvert - Head Coach
My involvement with Aquanauts started when first my son joined the club, then after a few years my daughter. When she started competing at more gala's I became a timekeeper then a judge 1. In 2009 I took over gala entries for Aquanauts and the 7 clubs in the newly formed Swim West Lothian. I was a chaperone for the SWL trip to Germany in 2009 And Team Manager in 2010 & 2011. I was also Team Manager for SWL's performance development squad to their training camp in Mallorca in 2010. I have also been Team Manager for DRP days, intercounties for the East District team 2010 and in 2013 the UK School games for the Scotland South and East team. I started a mentoring program with SWL coach Tricia Aitchison in January 2011, and took over as coach for SWL's CD1 squad in June 2011, moving to Aquanauts as coach in September 2012. My current roles are of Head Coach in and I am one of three people who organise and run the West Lothian Schools heats every year. |
Kirsten Dippie - Blue Fins Coach
I began swimming with Aquanauts from about 6 years old where I started out in Tank 1 in lessons. From there I have progressed through the club levels into the performance squad in Swim West Lothian. Over the years I have been finalists in competitions such as Scottish Nationals, East Districts and West Lothian Champs where I went on to medal positions. I also got the opportunity to swim abroad in Germany a few times for Aquanauts and West Lothian bringing home a few medals. These days I swim with Swim West Lothian Masters competing a couple times a year (a surprise for many of the swimmers I coach). I have been involved with coaching for about 5 years now and have been teaching for over 6 years. I currently teach the beginners on the Monday and Thursday night as well as Rookie lifeguard. I coach the Blue Fins where I love seeing the swimmers progress and achieve their goals. In 2015 I graduated Napier university with a BSc (hons) Sport and Exercise Science (Sports Injuries). I am now currently studying Msc (Pre reg) Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University College. |
Catriona Calder - White Fins Coach
I started swimming lessons with Aquanauts at the age of 6 and have been with the club ever since. At the age of 8 I started training at the club before moving onto Swim West Lothian where I trained and competed in various galas for 5 years. In 2013 I achieved my level 1 teaching qualification and since then have been a teacher at both Aquanauts and Swim West Lothian. I started volunteering to assist Dawn at coaching and have recently been given the role of coach for the White Fins squad. Since leaving Deans High School last year I am studying a Childcare course at West Lothian College. Out with swimming I enjoy going to the gym and have recently passed my driving test. |
